While working as a Private Equity professional at AlpInvest Partners and AtlasInvest, Heleen conducted several ESG consultant-led projects across her private market portfolio companies. She saw first-hand the difficulties that investors and management teams faced when it came to ESG management. Having previously worked with B2B SaaS Collibra, Heleen's 'lightbulb moment' occurred when she realised that SaaS could be the answer that the industry needed.

Heleen co-founded KEY ESG and, using her practitioner knowledge, her ESG know-how, and her SaaS expertise, she created new tools to measure, manage, and report on ESG performance. Heleen is now CEO for KEY ESG, while acting as the designated ESG board member on 4 of her active investments. Heleen holds a Masters in Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
